Can coconut oil be used as a makeup remover

I personally use Organic coconut oil around my eye area after I have cleansed my face. The reason being is because some makeup removers aren’t able to get all that waterproof makeup my the skin.  When it comes to the eye area I always take extra precaution because the skin is so delicate and thin I don’t want to rub and tug too much in that area.  How I personally use coconut oils is by firstly rubbing a bit of the coconut oil in a circular motion and the makeup begins to smear off. At this point, I take a damp towel and gently remove the makeup of the skin.

How to remove waterproof makeup.

When wearing waterproof mascara the best way to remove it is by applying one or two drops of Olive oil and gently massaging it around the eyelashes. The thickness of the oil breaks down the waterproof mascara and makes it easier to remove. You will also find that this method will be a  lot gentler with the skin around your eyes and will keep it hydrated. Once the makeup is removed its best to rinse the eye area with a gentle face wash to get rid of any residue.

What can be used as a makeup remover

Another remedy that I found worked well in removing all my makeup was Almond Oil.  Some people find that coconut oil and olive oil can clog the pores near the eye area, this depends all on your skin type. If this is your skin type then it’s worth trying out the Almond Oil.   If you use Almond Oil the benefits are that it can remove residue and doesn’t clog the pores.  In fact, Almond oil has a natural bleaching agent that can help brighten up the eye area and the skin.

Lastly, another way to remove makeup without having any greasy residue left behind is with Witch hazel. Witch hazel has a lot of natural elements that can help benefit the skin. It’s very gentle with the skin and is also known as a toner that can help minimize pores.

The best way to remove makeup with Witch hazel is by dampening a cotton pad with Witch hazel and gently swiping off makeup. This technique can be beneficial to people with sensitive skin because I found Witch hazel to help soothe my skin when I had grazed it from threading or from any other type of irritation towards my skin.

How Can I Remove Makeup At Home

After doing a lot of extensive research I found a way to make your own makeup remover at home which requires Three Ingredients.

  1. 3 spoons Liquid Coconut Oil
  2. 125 ml Water
  3. 1 Tbs of Baby Shampoo (no more tears formula)
8 Different Ways on How to Remove Makeup

The liquid coconut oil- will act as a conditioner to the skin and remove any waterproof makeup

The water is what makes the formula liquid and helps the formula mold into one and work together.

The Baby Shampoo is mild enough to clean the skin and help clean up the residue that is left behind on the face.

The measurements for this formula can change depending on how much water you want to use. This formula works best when all the formulation is mixed together. The coconut oil and the water will separate but always shake the bottle that’s holding the products together.

When using this formula dampen a cotton pad with a few drops and gently wipe the makeup off the face. Lastly, when using this formula to remove makeup make sure you rise your face afterward so that your skin is completely clean.

When using the different makeup removers, I found the type of cotton pads used also makes a slight difference. Cotton pads usually absorb less product vs a cotton ball and it they also shed less.  The cotton pads that work best with toners and makeup removers are The Body Shops Organic Round Cotton Pads. These particular ones are very gentle on the face and don’t have that itchy feeling when using them. These are really soft and great in quality.
